Becky Thorp, LM, CPM, CCE

My name is Becky Thorp. Being born at home myself, midwifery was a familiar subject in my family. I have always had a love for babies and a heart for serving women and families. I am a licensed midwife in Texas, a Certified Professional midwife (certified by the North American Registry of Midwives, and a certified doula and childbirth educator (certified through Charis Childbirth).

After graduating from high school in 2009, I completed the Ecola Bible School one year program in Cannon Beach, Oregon. In 2012, O attended the birth of my nephew and knew then, that midwifery was my calling. I enrolled in Charis Childbirth midwifery program 2014 and began attending births as a doula for friends and family. In March of 2016, I moved to Grand Prairie, Texas and began my clinical apprenticeship at Family Birth Services. I married her husband Nate, finished her training and academics, and became licensed in 2018.

It is of upmost importance to me to put clients' emotional and physical well-being as my priority. I believes in evidence based care and true informed consent to empower families for shared decision making. I love working with families and getting to interact with the siblings of the new baby in their mother's prenatal and postpartum visits. As a certified childbirth educator, I also enjoys teaching childbirth classes and educating women and their families.

I am originally from Sun Valley, Idaho, but currently live in Arlington with my husband. When not doing birth work, I enjoy hiking, camping, snowboarding, and rock climbing, as well as cooking, reading, and being involved in my church. I plan to get additional education and training in order to be able to go overseas to help train indigenous birth workers to ultimately help decrease infant and maternal mortality.
