Roxanne Anderson, LM, CPM, IBCLC

BEAM Healthcare LLC - Breastfeeding, Education, Advocacy and Midwifery

I first became a midwife in 1989, right here in DFW. During my training in the 1980s, I had the privilege of a traditional apprenticeship in Texas with many senior midwives who were pioneers in this state and the nation. Watching their intuitive and natural style of attending women based on years of experience, I quickly developed my own appreciation of the natural childbirth process as God created it, and the amazing ability of women to deliver their babies when given the right information and support.

My first practice as a new midwife was a rural home birth setting where I was the only midwife in a 300 mile radius. I learned how to work in a low resource environment and how patience can be one of the greatest tools in a midwife’s bag.  I would often spend a night or two on someone’s couch waiting for labor to progress without time limits or pressure.

After four years, I took a pause from full time practice, got married, and moved overseas. During this time I had my own three children at home with midwives, two in Hong Kong.  I also delivered babies in Nepal for Nepali Bible school students.

I returned to the US in 2001 and Texas in 2005. After a difficult divorce I began my return to full time midwifery practice in 2009.  I updated my clinical knowledge with local DFW midwives and also went to Senegal, West Africa and the Philippines to gain cross cultural experience and attend the births necessary to complete my CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) requirements. I became licensed to practice again in Texas in 2011.

I have practiced continually since then in both birthing centers and homes, and have now attended over 800 births. I have a small concierge home birth practice, and provide all in-home care (including prenatal appointments) to birthing families in the DFW area.

I am also an IBCLC (International board certified lactation consultant) - and offer a full range of breastfeeding support both virtually and by home visit.  I specialize in first week SOS calls, and enjoy helping establish healthy breastfeeding patterns from the very beginning. For my midwifery clients, this care is included.

I offer independent Havening Technique©️sessions as a Havening Practitioner, and also incorporate Havening into my midwifery practice according to my clients needs and wishes.

I’m also a certified Body Ready Method ©️ Pro and enjoy using these principles helping my clients establish sustainable exercise routines and healthy body mechanics for more comfortable pregnancies and easier deliveries.

I served one six year term on the Texas Midwife Advisory Board, and am currently serving on the NARM board of directors (North American Registry of Midwives).

I am passionate about equity, emotional support, trauma informed care, family involvement,  and the importance of comprehensive postpartum support. I still love to go to births just as much as I did thirty-five years ago, and look forward to practicing midwifery and helping folks breastfeed for many years to come.  I tend to fill up my schedule early, with many of my repeat clients calling me the minute they get a positive pregnancy test, so if you want to book a free consultation to interview me for midwifery care, don’t wait!

Looking forward to meeting you!
